Whitmans Pond, Weymouth, MA - 6/20/13

Caught a 1lb Largemouth at lunch today along the lily pads at Whitmans on a small BooYah Pad Crasher Cricket Frog. Gulped it up while it was walking alongside the lilies. One thing I noticed with this bait is that, while it is very effective, I have double hooked two straight fish deep in the gills. This one was bleeding pretty bad I noticed after I put it back in the water. So much for catch and release.

Comments

  • I appreciate the advice. I bought the smaller one because I was missing hookups with a larger Strike King that I was using. I like the BooYah Cricket pattern tho. It looks just like the leopard frogs you find around the area. I'll grab a large one.

  • Yeah, that would be a problem with smaller baits that are inhaled by the fish. My recommendation is to move up to a full sized frog.
